With magnet technology on each corner, each u-maker housing can be opened and closed again easily with no need for tools. Extension is modular; the modules can also be stacked easily using the magnet technology.
The magnets will usually stand up to your application. But if the vibrations are too great, the levels and modules can be screwed together. There is a screw and nut opening in each corner of the module for manual screw connection. The cover can be included following prior drilling – there are markings on the inside of the cover for this purpose. Just use conventional screws.
In the u-maker Box Basis Kit, a small 5.08 PCB can be attached alongside the Raspberry Pi using the screws enclosed at the appropriate screw connection points.
For larger PCBs and electronic modules, the u-maker Box Extension Kit is needed. This module includes horizontal and vertical universal holders. Simply push onto the housing corners from the side – a wide range of different PCBs can be mounted using the screws included.
The accessories can be adapted easily using diagonal-cutting pliers or cutters.
The u-maker Box Extension Kit gives you the option of extending the housing upwards as far as you like – level by level. That means that the Raspberry Pi housing offers enough space to integrate multiple additional modules.
Mounting via screw-in points in the module or via the universal brackets supplied.
The u-maker Box has removable side walls for the connections. Both modules – the Basis and Extension Kit – offer the option of removing the side walls to make space for the cables and plugs of the installed electronics.
If you like, you can also make new side walls for the u-maker Box, or adapt existing ones, using our 3D print templates .
The u-maker Box Basis Kit has hidden ventilation slits for cooling the housing. Additional holes can also be drilled in the cover for more cooling. The stencil incorporated in the cover makes it easy.
When conducting applications that require a lot of computing power, the Raspberry Pi becomes very warm and needs additional cooling from a fan. The u-maker box is designed so that a low-noise 80mm fan can be installed in the Extension Kit . The mounting accessories are included in the packaging.
If you prefer smaller fans, you can also use these. Just select and print the right 3D print template for mounting.
The u-maker Box Basis Kit comes with two clip holders for external installation. That allows connection to common action cam accessories (e.g. GoPro), such as magnetic, clamp and adhesive holders.
You can also mount the u-maker Box on a wall using one of the holders. There are also holders for industrial applications, so the u-maker Box can be hung on the top hat rail in a control cabinet.
Additional brackets in the u-maker Box holders offer the option of fixing the conductors in place with cable ties to provide strain relief.
Of course! Each u-maker Box Basis Kit module has space for one Raspberry Pi 4. Of course, multiple u-maker Basis Kits can be stacked on top of each other magnetically for your u-maker Box.
If you like, you can ventilate 4 Raspberry Pis on top of each other with an 80 mm fan in the housing from the side. To do this, you need to remove the base plates of the 3 stacked u-maker Box Basis housings. Markings on the enclosure bottom show you the easiest place to do this.
